I loved shooting this campaign for the re-brand of Hermes. It was quite a challenging brief to be able to capture everything in-camera while positioning the box exactly where we needed it. I ended up building the custom rig seen below to mount the box in front of the lens, allowing us to rotate and move the box in and out in front of the camera.
On the day the biggest challenge was lighting the talent’s face without them flagging the light entering the box and making sure the cardboard had enough texture. We did this in the end by bouncing little pools of light into the box using mirrors, which gave very precise control but also a natural look.
